FAQ

Common questions across setup, reporting, sharing, and trust workflows.

Getting started

What should I do first after sign-in?

Complete Profile Setup, then create your first entity using Entity Setup.

How quickly can I complete first value?

Most teams can complete Quickstart in one focused session.

SFRS data

Why did new line items appear in SFRS API responses?

The SFRS concept registry — the governed nomenclature behind every statement line — grew to cover full statement structures (including operating-lease lines). Additions are always backward-compatible: existing line names never change meaning, and new lines simply appear alongside them. Every concept's definition and XBRL mapping is queryable at GET /v2/sfrs/concepts.

What does it mean when a statement is "incomplete"?

The source filing could not faithfully fill every field the strict schema requires; the gaps are listed in missingFields. Sureshake never estimates a value to make a document pass. Use the fields map for the lines that were observed — a null line is missing data, not zero.

How do SFRS line names relate to XBRL tags?

Each SFRS concept carries an ordered chain of XBRL mappings (us-gaap, ifrs-full, dei); the first tag that resolves in the source filing wins. Some concepts also declare derivation arithmetic for when no direct tag exists — for example, total liabilities can be derived from the balance-sheet identity when a filer doesn't tag it directly.

Financial models

Why is Fair Value shown as "—" for some companies?

Per-share fair value requires a shares-outstanding figure from the company's filings. When filings do not provide one (or another required fact is missing), the model still computes enterprise and equity values but shows "—" instead of inventing a per-share number. The equity waterfall in Supporting Calculations shows exactly where the chain stops.

Why don't I see a stock price or upside on the model page?

Stock price and upside display only when licensed market data exists for the company. Where no market-data license is in place, the model shows fair value only — it never substitutes a guessed or scraped price. The API mirrors this: summary.stockPrice and summary.upside stay null.

Who can see my saved scenarios?

Only you. Saved scenarios are private to your account. A share link resolves to the scenario's name and assumption overrides only — never your identity — and viewers of the link cannot modify your saved scenario; their edits stay local to their own page. See Saving and sharing scenarios.

Why did the default numbers change from the old model page?

The DCF templates moved to a new per-year engine. Instead of a single growth scalar applied uniformly, each projection year now has its own driver values, cash flows are discounted with the mid-year convention starting from the latest reported balance-sheet date, and the first year is weighted as a stub period. These are more precise conventions, so defaults can differ slightly from the earlier scalar model even with the same filings.

Is this investment advice?

No. The models are educational calculators driven entirely by explicit, user-adjustable assumptions over SEC-derived inputs. Output is not issuer guidance, an analyst target, or investment advice — the disclaimer appears on every model page and in every export, and the AI assistant will not make buy/sell recommendations.

Reporting

Which report type should I start with?

Start with an operating summary, then add performance and trust reports as your cadence matures. See Entity Reporting.

How often should we report?

Weekly for tactical operations, monthly for management review, quarterly for strategic/external reporting.

Sharing and security

Prefer scoped recipient access and time-bound sharing for external parties.

How do we reduce risk in sharing workflows?

Use role-based permissions, review access regularly, and test revocation paths. See Security.

Public directory

Why does a profile say "Not managed by the organization"?

That profile is a reference profile: Sureshake assembled it from cited public information, and the organization has not claimed it. The label is a factual state, not a warning or a judgment — it tells you who does (and does not) control the profile. See Understanding reference profiles.

How do I correct information about my company?

Three options:

  1. Claim the profile. After approval you can manage the public facts directly. See Claiming your organization's profile.
  2. Suggest a correction. Signed-in visitors can use Suggest a correction (or Report a duplicate) on the profile page. Corrections go to Sureshake review — they never overwrite public facts directly, and a fact under review is labeled on the profile until it is resolved.
  3. Contact support if neither path fits.

Why can't I request access on some profiles?

Request access only appears on organization-managed profiles that have permissioned content. Unclaimed reference profiles have no owner to approve a request, and profiles whose filings are all public have nothing to request — so the button does not appear in those cases. See Following profiles and requesting access.

What does the verified badge actually verify?

Verified means Sureshake verified that an authorized representative controls the profile — identity control, nothing more. It does not certify that the profile's business facts or any filed financials are correct. Each filing carries its own integrity evidence: a timestamp proves a filing is unchanged since filing, not that its contents are correct.

Startup marketplace

Who can see my execution record?

Only the audiences you approve. Public visitors see public called shots and closed outcomes; approved followers see the season target, progress, and the weekly updates you approve; deeper tiers (capital, diligence) are separate grants. Day-to-day calendar detail stays private to your team. See Startup Capital Marketplace.

Do founders know when an investor saves or watches their startup?

No. Private saves, watchlists, and firm-scoped notes never notify the startup and never grant access. Only an explicit follow or engagement request reaches the founder.

Can I edit a commitment after the week has started?

Edits are guarded and versioned: the original commitment stays visible in the version history relative to the outcome. A missed commitment can be reset, and the reset links back to the miss instead of erasing it. That is the point — the record proves when each claim was made.

Does Sureshake score or rank startups?

No. There is no universal founder, velocity, or fundability score, no pay-to-rank, and no popularity boosts. Match suggestions come from explicit mandate fit plus permission-approved execution evidence, and every suggestion shows its provenance.

What is a proof standard?

The evidence you commit to showing before the work begins — for example, "a Stripe dashboard export" rather than "we'll know it when we see it." Missing evidence is an explicit state on the record, never a silent pass.

Analytics and reputation

Where should we focus first in analytics?

Start with cadence reliability and report completeness, then move into deeper trend analysis.

How do we improve reputation over time?

Be consistent on reporting cadence, resolve exceptions quickly, and use controlled sharing patterns. See Reputation.

Validation checklist

  • Team can answer first-step and report-cadence questions
  • Team knows where sharing/security guidance lives
  • Team can explain how analytics and reputation connect
